Plastic Pipe Work

Plastic pipe fittings have become very popular these days for water supply and drain lines. The low cost, good durability and easy installation has made plastic pipes most popular.

Variety:
Fittings meant for plastic pipes and for connecting plastic to metal pipes are available in various options like threaded, compression and solvent weldable types. The diameter and specification of plastic pipe fittings also vary depending on their application. For example, fittings with smaller diameters are used for pressure connections and they are slightly heavier and have deeper throats.

Threaded plastic fittings thread almost like metal fittings. When both hot and cold water are to be carried, it is advised to install special transition fittings in order to prevent leaks caused by the different expansion rates of plastic and metals. In fact, plastic pipe fittings are available for almost every kind of application.

PVC System

(Polyvinyl Chloride) is one of the most broadly used thermoplastic materials common to many industries. PVC is highly resistant to acids, alkalis, alcohols, and many other corrosive materials. INDUSTRIAL/ BT

uPVC System (Polyvinyl chloride  unplastizised) offers the best value for money for many applications. PVC-U is also a universal material.

Prevalent Use: SWV/ INDUSTRIAL

Cutting and Fitting: PVC pipe is easily cut with a hacksaw or tubing cutter. The sections are joined together mechanically using plastic pressure fittings for later removal or permanently joined using special chemical solvent.

PVC Sch 40

Compared with Schedule 80 systems, Schedule 40 PVC pipe and fittings are a lower-cost alternative for applications with lower pressures but requiring the same thermal and chemical resistance. INDUSTRIAL

Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride

Piping made from Polyethylene is a cost effective solution for a broad range of piping problems in municipal, industrial, marine, mining, landfill, duct and agricultural applications. It has been tested and prove effective for above ground, surface, buried, sliplined, floating, and sub-surface marine application.

High-Density Polyethylene Pipe (HDPE) can carry potable water, wastewater, slurries, chemicals, hazardeous wastes and compressed gases. In fact, polyethylene pipe has a long and distinguished history of service to the gas, oil, mining and other industries. It has the lowest repair frequency per mile of pipe per year compared with all other pressure pipe material used for urban gas distribution. Polyethylene is strong, extremely tough and very durable. Whether you’ re looking for service, trouble-free installation, flexibility, resistance to chemicals or a myriad of other features, HDPE will meet all your requirement.   UT/ BT

Ductile Iron Pipe

Ductile iron pipe is a pipe commonly used for potable water distribution. The predominant wall material is ductile iron, a spheroidized graphite cast iron, although an internal cement mortar lining usually serves to inhibit corrosion from the fluid being distributed, and various types of external coating are used to inhibit corrosion from the environment. Ductile iron pipe is a direct development of earlier cast iron pipe which it has superseded. Ductile iron has proven to be a better pipe material, being stronger and more fracture resistant; however, like most ferrous materials, it is susceptible to corrosion and retains some brittle characteristics. Individual lengths of ductile iron pipe are joined either by flanges, couplings, or some form of spigot and socket arrangement.

Cement Lined Pipe

Also known as MSCL (Mild Steel Cement Lined). Cement Lined Pipe is used in the transmission of potable water and sewage applications. It is also used when the process fluid may corrode regular carbon steel pipe. Due to the fragility of the cement lined coating, it is recommended that the pipe is handled as delicately as possible. This includes the use of rubber covered hooks or other equipment that prevents the damage of the lining.

Brass

Brass is one of the most common material used in the making of pipe fittings. Brass as a construction material is an alloy of copper and zinc. Brass pipe fittings are of various types and of high demand because of some inherent properties which make them superior than other materials. Brass pipes and pipe fittings are widely used in industrial purposes and residences for carrying water, flammable gases, slurries, chemicals, fire sprinkler systems, etc. Pipe Fittings made of brass are available in a wide variety of shapes and thread sizes to connect, control or adapt any air or liquid flow in a pipe or tube.

Brass pipe fittings are widely used in both industrial and residential settings due to their strength, durability, and corrosion resistance. Known for their distinctive yellow appearance, brass fittings offer excellent machinability, making them ideal for shaping and finishing. They also provide good conductivity, high-temperature ductility, and low magnetic permeability, making them a reliable choice for various applications.

Cast Iron Pipe Fitting

Cast iron pipe fittings are specially designed for soil pipes. These pipe fittings are primarily used in building construction for sanitary and storm drain, waste and vent piping applications.

While selecting pipe fittings for drain or sewer system, buyer’s mostly prefer materials that are resistant to abrasion. Cast iron pipe fittings are highly resistant to abrasion from sand, gravel, dishwasher discharge, garbage disposal residue and debris, which are carried in suspension along the lower portion of the sewer or drain. This makes cast iron the most sought after choice of buyers for pipe fittings.

Copper Pipe Fittings

Copper Pipe Fittings play an important role in many plumbing and heating applications. These fittings are used for installation of various types of pipes. In fact, copper pipe fittings are mainly used with copper pipes used for supplying hot and cold water in residential water supply lines, as refrigerant line in HVAC, etc. Copper pipe fittings are available in many different sizes and styles and you can select the right one for your application.

The pipe fittings also vary depending on the type of pipe used. Copper pipes and fittings are usually made of two basic types of copper:
a.    Soft copper: Tubes or pipes made of soft or ductile copper can be easily bent to travel around obstacles in the path of the tubing. Soft copper tubing is the only type, which is suitable for flare connections. Soft copper mostly preferred for refrigerant lines in split-system air conditioners and heat pumps.

b.    Rigid copper: Rigid copper is widely popular for water pipelines. Rigid copper pipes are connected using compression or sweat connection. As the name suggests, rigid copper cannot be bent and must use elbow fittings to go around corners or avoid obstacles.

Malleable Fittings

Malleable fittings are usually used to connect steel pipes. However, galvanized malleable fittings are used for galvanized pipe. Malleable iron pipe fittings are most common among malleable fittings and are available in many different types and sizes.

Malleable fittings are those fittings having the property of malleability. This is a physical property of metals and metalloids, or any kind of matter. We call a metal malleable when it can easily be deformed, especially by hammering or rolling, without cracking the metal. Malleability is important to form pressing materials such as metals and plastics.

Steel Pipe Fittings

Steel has been used for making pipe and pipe fittings since years for its durability and strength. Moreover, steel offers high resistance to heat. This property also adds to the popularity of steel for making pipes and pipe fittings. Steel pipes and pipe fittings are widely used in houses and industrial purposes for carrying water, flammable gases, fire sprinkler systems, etc.

As steel pipes tend to rust, they are often mixed with other materials to add to its durability and make it rust resistant. Pipe fittings are made of various types of steel like:

Galvanized Steel

Carbon Steel

Stainless Steel

Vitrified Clay Pipe Work

Vitrification, in ceramic terms, is a process by which the mineral contents of the clay turn to glass. Adding to that, the homogeneous properties of clay has proven to be sustainable in modern usage. It can be joint using o-ring compression joints which deliver a strong, flexible and watertight seal.
